Five ~ Favorite Fall Sweaters

Crisp days and chilly days are in the forecast, so I had to break out some sweaters and look for new ones. I love soft comfortable sweaters, the kind that makes me curl up on the couch and sip a cup of coffee. Sounds relaxing! it doesn't happen often, but I do sure will take advantage of each opportunity.

While window shopping online, I found these to be my five favorites:
White House Black Market
Not sure if stripes are for me, but I am liking this one
Ann Taylor
Love the color and looks super comfortable
Banana Republic
Ruffle placket open cardigan
Lilly Pulitzer
Lunden Sweater
Ann Taylor Loft
Loving this cocoon sweater

My 10th Wedding Anniversary is today... maybe a good excuse to do some shopping!

10th Wedding Anniversary

It’s hard to believe that it was 10 years ago today that the Jason and I were married on a perfect autumn day among friends and family! I still remember just about every detail of that day.  It seems like it was only yesterday, or maybe just a few years ago.

Jason has been very creative when it comes to our wedding anniversary gifts.  I remembered for our 5th year anniversary, according to the " gift symbols" which it is wood, Jason got me a brand new fence! and the greatest gift to this day, the chance to stay home with Ben and now Emma.

Jason and I have known each other for 16 years.  On our first year of dating, we traveled to Peru and explored Macchu Picchu and other important cities, but most of all he got a chance to meet the other side of my family.

Kitchen Valance

We painted our kitchen and replaced the hardware, now the only thing missing is a valance. The window is large and looks out into our garden, so I didn't want to obstruct the view. Here are some fabrics that we picked, now the hard part, choosing the right one.

My friend stopped by this morning and she chose the same fabric that I like, so that may be the ONE! On my next posting, I will show you how to make an easy and simple valance and reveal the before and after pictures of our kitchen. A valance is an inexpensive way to bring style to your window and for me another way to use Patty's Collection studio.

So Tastefully Simple

My friend Molly introduced me to Tastefully Simple and now I am a big fan. Our favorite is the Bountiful Beer Bread Mix and the Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix. But there are so many other great items to choose from, from breads, soups, desserts, dips and beverages.

With homework, soccer games and practices, play dates, Patty's Collection, etc., there is not much time during the week to bake with the kids which they love so much. However, with Tastefully Simple products, we can still can make time to bake. It is so Simple!

Today, we made the Truffle Fudge Brownie Mix easy to prepare and so delicious!
The ingredients
So Simple, my kids can do it
Mix, pour in a dish and bake
This was not in the directions

By the time I reached for my camera... some were already missing :)

Now it's the time to stock up for holiday entertaining dishes and gifts.  I will definitely will be calling Molly to order Tastefully Simple for my Holiday Party this year!

Change in the Air...

Today is the first day of fall! Get ready for changing leaves, bike rides and crisp weather. This is one of my favorite seasons.  For us it's time to think of pumpkins, apple cider, spending time outdoors, and soon cuddling by the the fireplace.

Fall Wreaths

Last week we started to feel a little bit of crisp cooler weather in Maryland. In anticipation of fall decorating that so many of us love to do, I’m sharing some fall wreaths. I was thinking about getting a new wreath for my front door and these were some of  my favorite ones that I found online:

Love this one from Pottery Barn
A little simpler... also from Pottery Barn
I saw this on Martha Stewart...
maybe I could do this with this kids
Love this one from Frontgate
This is the one I bought at Wegmans a couple years ago...
and I will use it again this year!

Have you started decorating for the fall?  What does your front door look like?

A-maze-ing

Our plans for today were to go apple picking, but I received an e-mail from our local farm letting me know that the apple picking had ended the day before. My kids and nephew were so excited to go apple picking, so I had to find something new and fun to do instead. We went to Rodgers' Farm, it was A-maze-ing!
Ben leading the path
Emma thinks she knows the way out, but
We were lost...
Ben always a caring brother
I think they found the way out!
Yes, they did!
Aerial shot of the crab maze
It was a beautiful day and my kids got to wear their favorite
t shirts, of course, from Patty's Collection!

If you think that mazes are just puzzles for small kids, think again! It's a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

We were running against the clock since the Ravens game was at 1:00 pm.  We are coming back in a couple of weeks to go on the hay ride to pick our own pumpkins and get ready for Halloween!

Kick it!

Today was Ben's first soccer game! He's liking it so far and meeting new friends. His team is the Eagles and he wears a #7 jersey.
His team did great today and started the season off with a victory (6-1)
Ben played his little heart out and gave his best
We love watching him play
Emma had fun watching the boys play and making her own games on the sidelines
Of course, she was one of the cutest spectators
Way to go Ben!

End of Summer

This was our last weekend to the beach. It was a cloudy, rainy, foggy, sunny weekend...certainly a great weekend. We got a chance to spend our last days of Summer with Pops, uncle David, and "Tia" Lindsay. We got to do so much, even more than what he had planned.

There are so many things I will miss about Summer.... flip flops, tank tops and shorts, watching the kiddos swim in the pool, the beach, sunny days... but I am looking forward to the fall and the many fun things that comes with it!

We Will Never Forget

Today was our last day at the beach and we woke up this morning to see American flags flying freely every 100 feet on the boardwalk. September 11, it's a day we will never forget!
God Bless America!

Step by Step...

I know some of you wonder, how does Patty make all these cute outfits? so I thought sharing some of the steps that it takes to make one adorable t-shirt. For this exercise, I used one of the designs that I was working on last week. I get the materials, fabrics, garment, thread, stabilizer, and my embroidery machine ready.  First, I create the files on the computer and then transfer the designs into a disk to use on my embroidery machine.

I find the center of the garment, place the stabilizer and
fabric on the hoop, tack down the stitch, and then trim
Once the trim is done, the machine will stitch all the different  color threads
I need to make sure that I get all the threads in order so I don't make the pumpkin green
I trim the extra threads and stabilizers on the back
Viola!  The applique is done. These are some of the final garments

I truly enjoy making each garment and experimenting with different colors of thread and fabric for each design.

Five ~ Ways to Organize your Ribbons

As you can imagine, I have a lot of ribbons at home. I use them mostly for Patty's Collection, gifts, or crafts.  Organization makes my life so much easier when I am working in the studio, so this is what works best for me.
I store my ribbons in drawers and this is what one of the drawers looks like
I also like these ribbon stacking dispensers.
They keep my ribbons organized and ready to use

For more ideas, I've checked other ribbon storing methods and I like these ideas from Real Simple.
Paper towel dispenser
Wire hanger
Shoe box

I know a lot of my readers are crafty moms, so how do you store your ribbons?
